should the home office be allowed to keep DNA?

ok, so what do people think. In the UK the home office can keep the DNA on file of anyone who is arrested ( even if no charges are brought or they are subsequenty found not guitly) of anyone for, at present, as long as they like. Is this a good thing becasue it has been used to solve crimes and as evidence to convict criminals or is it an invasion of privacy?

Both.
While it sounds like a good deal, there is a down side to it.
If the police ever get a crime they can't solve due to a lack of DNA evidence, they can manufacture DNA evidence from the database.
Keep the evidence necessary for prosecution, delete the evidence of an innocent person.

It should be kept because it would help solve many crimes and then criminals would be locked up...On the other hand what if your information was lost and someone gets hold of it? They could get information on you that you dont want people to know
