Should police officers get special treatment in court?

For example, if a police officer accidentally kills somebody in the line of duty, it is considered manslaughter. And in Canada it carries a minimum 4 year sentence. Do you believe that cops should get that shortened? Why or why not.

And opinions would be greatly appreciated.
