Should people caught texting and driving be arrested and/or go to jail?

According to recent studies, texting or reading/responding to email causes more dangerous driving situations than drinking and driving.

Should we all show the same outrage at drivers who text while driving as we do at drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol? Take away licenses? Take away cell phone rights? Many people on probation for DWI can't drink alcoholic beverages as part of their probation, even if they don't have a license anymore and do not drive. Should the law also say that those caught texting and driving should not be allowed to text as a part of probation?

I find this all very interesting and would love to hear some opinions. Full disclosure-I have texted while driving, but I would never dream of drinking and then driving. If texting is worse or at least just as bad, I wonder at current policies. What do you think?
