Should others be FORCED to pay for the results of your lifestyle decisions?

Junk Food, Soda, Smoking, Alcohol, Lack of Exercise.....................

I say no. It's irrational, collectivist rubbish, and does not teach personal responsibility.
Exactly, Healthy Person. More reason not to implement social health care.
Oh, don't take the "your" too personal, unless you actually think other should pay for your own personal decisions.

I used it in the general sense.
I think we'll just agree to disagree, to some degree. I never had a problem giving people aid or contributing to charity, I just don't think the guns of government are a right nor a moral way to do it.

That includes your octomom example.

No. This is the main difference between Conservatives and Liberals. Conservatives believe you have a right to do as you want as long as you do not hurt others. But, you must take responsibility for your own actions including financial responsibility. No bailouts for people who make bad decisions.

You have a point and I have thought about this. People say they can do whatever they want, it's their life which is true. The thing is when they have consequences they either run to the government for money and help, insurance covers it, or other (with exceptions of-course). More and more people do drugs, are alcoholics, eat very unhealthy, etc. and when they all get sick and have health problems the insurance goes up, taxes go up etc which cause other too pay more.

Get a clue, we are already paying.

If you have health care insurance, your rates are already affected by people who are obese and smoke.

Rates in the last 5 years have sky rocked and you also pay for the person who does not have health care and has to go to the emergency room yet can not pay the $200 to $300 cost or larger emergency room fees.

The country can not afford to NOT have health insurance for all. Just think about it. Ok, I will give you an easy example but if you give it any thought you would know it is ridiculous to think that we pay for a child to go through 3rd grade but won't pay for that child to have treatment for lukemia? Which would be more important if that was your child....Ok, the example is you have a women who has worked in the building where bankers go to do their job each day it is a big building. She makes enough money to survive but the business she work for does not pay for her to have health ins. She can not afford it on he $10 an hour cleaning job. So she doesn't take care of her diabetes she is hungry all the time cause that is what happens when your body needs something it is not getting. So she weight 260 but mops those floors like no one else. She is in pain cause something is wrong with her leg & on the way home one night she gets the bus to drop her off at the hospital. They tell her she needs to have her leg amputated. They put her on insulin. If she would have had health insurance she wouldn't weight so much, she wouldn't have destroyer her leg....Now she needs really intense medical care. She is also going to have to get government assistance for housing, food, heat...so over $1000 a month will be spent on eveyone like her cause she can't work anymore.

SOMEBODY has to pay for liberals abortions, aids treatments, sex changes, and Bush Derrangement Syndrome?!
