No. Mr. Obama has a lot more class than the GOP. The modern apologists of the Confederacy are in the wrong and always will be, but despite their stubborn love for a failed rebellion in order to keep slaves, the sins of the fathers cannot be revisited upon the great, great, great, great grandchildren.

BTW, US Grant (a Republican) did NOT own slaves, but rather his wife's family were said to own some. That's not clear, but Shelby Foote, probably the best Southern historian of his time, said so in The Civil War Ken Burns documentary, and I respect his work. Furthermore, Lee's family did own slaves, although Lee himself was opposed to slavery and the family slaves were eventually freed.
