Should Nextel phones have Bluetooth?

BT would be great pluss it is needed in the city. D.C. requires a headset and the wires are a pain. But as one person said earlier, nextel should get a "QUALITY" phone out of Moto. first!!!!!!!!!!

i personally think the iden phones are just fine, they get the job done and they are extremely tough, they can get beat up real bad and still function, my dad dropped his i860 countless amounts of times and it still works fine. my freind whos got a razr phone dropped it once and it never turned on again and had a display that had a countless amount of cracks in it. if your saying that the quality of the phone is the reception then thats not the phones fault.

Just for the record. As of May 1, 2005 Nextel has introduced the i605 wich DOES come Bluetooth Ready. Not to mention that the Blackberry 7520 is also Bluetooth capable and anyone can purchase a bluetooth adapter that will allow Bluetooth headset use on just about any of the newer model Nextel phones (and i can vouch for their quality).

I would like it to quickly sync up with my computer and car, but it is not for everyone. Also, I am sure they will have to include some kind of security feature so the phone's BT port is not open to everyone in the area.

I have purchased every top of the line phone nextel has had since they begun there service years ago ie (98-99?) I1000, I2000, I95, I730, I830, I860, BB 7520. I have used the bluetooth adaptor on all of them except the blackberry 7520. Reception is fine up to about 25 feet away about 90% of the time. I dislike the fact that the adaptor does not let you use voice dial from your bt ear piece. I have the one from moto that doest have the fold down mic, but is using bt software 1.2. Far as the black berry, you dont need the adaptor. But it still does not allow you to use the voice activated feature. You have to make the call then select blue tooth from the phone and go from there. the whole purpose is to leave your phone somewhere safe, in car on charger, or at your desk charging, in suitcase...etc, and make and recieve calls without having to touch your phone. You can do this with other cell service provider phone's. I have not check out the new peice of crap nextel phone with bt yet. But my assumption is you cant. They need to catch up ASAP! They are a business man cellphone company. But money is money and if they want more they need to catch up. My two cents!

Well we have all missed the I870, because as you can see it was not out at the time of all our posts. I have been considering purchasing the I870. But I bet it still does not support the features I mentioned above that really makes BT great.

You should be able to voice dial on the on the i870 with BT. That was one of the major questions I had before I bought my phone. My V-710 had that feature and it was awesome.
It had:
Name Dial, Voice dial, Camera (voice activate), VoiceMail (though you still had to use the keypad for password).

It would kinda be pointless if it didnt have Voicedial...I dunno; I havent purchased a new earpiece yet; I'll have to wait and find out.
