I am a full time student with grants and direct loans. On the 1098-T form filed by my school, the total of my grants and loans together is listed under the box for grants and scholarships. I only received 2450 in grants/scholarships, but my 1098-T states that I received over 6,000(which is the total of grants and direct loans together) Is this correct? If my 1098-T is incorrect, do I have to have it fixed before I can file, or can I simply file using the correct amounts instead of those listed on the form? Please advise.
Should my direct loans be included under grants and scholarships on my 1098-T form?
