Should media coverage and ballot access be limited to just Republicans and Democrats?

I'm not talking about the presidential races, but state and local races. Should the laws making it harder to Independent or Independent Party (neither D nor R) candidates to get on the ballot or have media coverage be changed. Or do you like them as they are.
Examples are: Requiring thousands of signatures for these candidates to run for governor or state legislature.
Not allowing write in candidates.
The Top Two Primary.
