Should I wait for the supposed verizon iphone?

so i have a really bad verizon phone from almost four years ago. it's a slow, nothing-special phone that i got as my first cell. my mom is saying i can get an upgrade SO i can either get any phone that verizon has such as a droid or something OR i can wait for the iphone that may come to verizon in january. i've wanted an iphone ever since it came out because i love apple but it's been on AT&T and i have verizon..

so what do you think i should do? wait for the iphone or get a new phone now?
