should I trade a 2005 yamaha warrior(1670cc) for a harley?

Have my stock warrior with 12000 miles up for trade on craigslist. Would like to get a big Harley for it. The downfall of a warrior is my friends have big Harleys and the warrior gets rather hot to the butt and legs when you drive in town. Very fast and dependable though. Should I trade and what should I expect to get for it. Blue book is $8000 and that's what I paid for it one year ago. Any advice?

If the real "downfall" is that you don't match the herd, then trade it off for whatever you can get for it so you'll blend in.
The engines are basically the same. The HD isn't going to be any cooler while your styling at bike night or waiting for a red light to change. I know a cop who turned his leased RK back in, because it was flaming hot during escort jobs, and put his liquid cooled bike back into service.

You are going to get screwed over hard on a trade-in. I bet the dealer won't offer you more than 3/4 Blue Book, and it might be under that. If you want a HD badly enough, I would just try selling rhe Yamaha. When you have cash in hand, start looking for a used HD. There is a 2007 Ultra with 3,000 miles on my local Craig's List for $14,000 and the seller says no reasonable offer will be refused (located in Green Bay, WI). If you could walk away with that for $12,500 or $13,000 you would be getting a great deal. There are tons of reasonable used HDs out there right now. Buying new just doesn't make sense.

If you get $7,000 for your Yamaha and got an '07 Ultra for $13,000 you would end up paying $6,000 out of pocket. If you pay $21,000 for a new Ultra and got $5,000 as a trade-in, you would owe $16,000.

To me, the choice is obvious.
