Hi, i need some advice on my current circumstance as to whether i should leave my job and have a break for 3 months or stay in my job/find a new job.
I have been in the same job for 3 years. I was promised a promotion last year but it looks like it will not happen until an employee leaves her job so that i can move into it - this will be another 12 months away minimum. I recently obtained my CPA qualification, its now offical. This was a great achievement but im burned out now.
My issue: I'm pretty exhausted, feeling unmotivated and craving a 3 month break from work. I am willing to quit my job, have 3 months off, and then look for another job when im ready after this time. Id love to do some volunteer work, meet new people, relax, sleep-in...all the things i could not do whilst studying cpa and working full time at the same time the past 3 years. Financially i would need to obtain a personal loan of around $10,000 to support myself during time off (to pay my mortgage and bills, food etc and holiday funds). This would reduce the panic of finding a job quick fast as i could survive 5 months on this money without pay. I also decided if i cannot find a job in accounting when i return to the workforce, i would take anything on to get the cashflow going until i find a suitable job.
My parents have offered their beach house for me to use in this time a few hours drive away, on the coast. They would visit me and my partner would make regular trips every weekend to see me. I would keep busy gardening, reading etc.
If i stay in the same job i would remain miserable and may sabotage things by doing the bare minimum in my job. Then i would be no longer up for the promotion. If i find a new job, i dont feel energised enough to learn a new job all over again just now.
I really need a break but not sure if its the right thing to do???
Can anyone suggest what i should do? Stay at work or have a break? Do you know of anyone who found it hard to find a job in australia after a short period of unemployment? Apparently employment market in australia is very very strong...
