Should I take AP World History?

As a sophomore in high school, AP World History is the only AP class that is offered. I want to go to a fairly competitive college, not like Ivy League but maybe a UC or like NYU or something. All of the upperclassmen are telling me not to take this class because it is hell, the teacher is crazy, it makes you not want to take AP later on, and you'll have no life. I would take AP later on in junior/senior year if I didn't take AP World. Should I take this class just because it's AP and it makes you more competitive than other students?
 
only take it if you like history and are good at it. also, take it if you are willing to out in the time and work required. don't take it if you aren't going to keep up and you are going to slack off. it will look good for colleges but only if your grades are good.
 
yes I did last year as a sophomore...it wasn't that bad. It is a really good way to get used to used to the ap speed. Go for it, its a challenge well worth taking. Have fun!
