Should I take a pregnancy test?

I had unprotected sex a week before then 3 days before and the day before my period.. i got my period but the first day it was just brown discharge and the second there was more brown discharge and "normal bleeding", third was was "normal bleeding and the last day there was more brown discharge.. then yesterday (day after my period finished) after sex i got extremely dizzy and felt nauseous the for the rest of the day. I couldn't even eat the smell of food was making me feel worse. Would i be wasting my time doing a pregnancy test even though i got my period?? i dont want to get my hopes up.
 
best time to take test is 4 days after your period is due as your homone level is much higher
