Should I still get the htc hero?

Well on my upgrade for sprint I whant to get the htc hero, but I saw that it's pretty old i also saw that you can get the hero for the same price on eBay then after the upgrade and mail and rebate which show how old it is I know I can get the evo shift for same price as hero but I really really don't what to pay $10 extra a month for 4g Wich I'll hardly use, I checked the other 3G phone and from the reviews I saw and my opinion I think the hero is the best 3G phone for sprint what do u guys think I should do and thx in advance
