I really like my job BUT I see other jobs that offer sooo much - 401k, benefits, vacation etc. I've been at my job for 6 yrs and I just don't know if I should resort to the "secure" job or approach my boss what my future is with the company. I haven't gotten a raise in 3 yrs but have let it go since the economy is in the toilet right now. But, I can make the same starting at another company and KNOW that I will grow. Is it a bad time to ask where you stand with a company? The econmy situation is intimidating and I don't want to be on shaky grounds.
