I want a cruiser with around 750-800 ccs. However, I have limited riding experience, I rode dirt bikes as a kid, and I took a motorcycle saftey course using a 250cc cruiser and never exceeding 20 mph... other than that my experience is as a passenger.
I have very limited funds, and want a motorcycle soon so I can continue to practice so that I don't lose what I've learned in the class, so I am thinking of maybe buying a 250cc cruiser which I can afford right now, and then continuing to save for the 800cc machine I really want.
Would you do this? Or would you consider a 250cc machine a waste of money, many of my friends say it would be.
The added bonus to getting a bike now would be that I could ride while there is still a little nice weather left. (I live in the Seattle area, the deluge of rain comes soon.) I do plan to ride in rain occasionally, but it does make it less enjoyable.
For the cruiser haters: I know what I like, I may have limited experience as the operator of the bike, but my experience as a passenger tells me that a cruiser is what I want for my main bike, a dual sport might be nice later, but my main ride will be a laid-back cruiser, at 40 years old, I am not looking to race or rough ride, I am looking to cruise and enjoy the ride... Period.
