I know it is a little long but PLEASE help me out here - I am a student majoring in animal sciences in Philadelphia for my undergraduate bachelors whom is planning on applying to veterinary school for my doctorate. My cumulative GPA is a 3.35 (technically a 3.4 but I had to average out a course I retook for some of the schools I am applying to), my last 45 hour GPA is a 3.63, I have a ton of relevant work experience in the animal sciences including work as a paid animal laboratory technician, a volunteer at the Philadelphia zoo, and as a volunteer at the University of Pennsylvania's veterinary hospital. I have solid recommendations coming from a veterinarian, a veterinary nurse, and from a doctor at my college. I am planning on applying to the Universities of Missouri, Colorado, Pennsylvania, & Iowa. I am concerned becuase my GRE scores aren't all that spectacular - verbal: 460 quant: 610 and AW: 4.0
I have checked the schools I am applying to and while I am not very far off from their average GRE scores I am still below for them. My question is whether or not you think I should retake the test. I really wouldn't want to retake the test becuase I would have to miss work, pay 150 bucks for the test, go through the stress of studying again, and of course go through the grueling four hours of testing again. Also Missouri only counts the GRE as 4% of their evaluation on whether or not you are admitted and I am very close to the averages for Iowa. I mean all of the school averages that I am off by (except UPenn) I am off by about 20-30 points and the test is in 10 point increments so I mean were really only talking about 3-4 questions right/wrong. And if I retake them I am not guaranteed a better score and I really did try very hard to do well the first time. So what do you think? Thanks for any help you can offer.
