I need some opinions here.
I am currently studying Biological Sciences at University. And it's a good course, don't get me wrong. I enjoy aspects of it, and I have an idea about what I'd like to do with it after I graduate. I also realise that doing a science degree allows me to go into many different careers and have lots of new job opportunities.
However, sometimes I don't enjoy it. Sometimes I get bored of revising about genes and doing chemical calculations and what not. And I worry that I'm not amazingly talented at it either.
Well, I just happen to be quite musical. I read and write music well, I play piano, guitar and I sing. I have also founded and become president of a new music society at my university.
I really enjoy doing this. I have also performed numerous concerts either playing my own songs or covering someone else's.
Thus, I often think it's a waste of money to be spending on a university degree that I don't really enjoy.
Of course, being a musician isn't exactly a steady job...but what is these days?
Then again, on the other hand...if music turns out to be the wrong move for me...I will feel like I wasted my time and will have to find a way to go back into studying biology which could be difficult and expensive.
I don't know what to do. I dream all day long about writing music for films or performing on stage...but perhaps this is only meant to be a dream.
Any ideas? Thanks
