Should I purchase this Ford Mustang?

Hello,

there's a 1999 ford mustang with 170k miles that I've found in my town...it is the body style I want, the transmission, color...everything. BUT, the 170,000 miles is scaring me. I'm a high school student so this car would probably only last me 4-5 years tops, but thats a LOT of miles for a car.

Oh, and they are asking $2800 for it. What is it worth do you think?

It all depends if the car was taking care of properly all these years (oil change, tune up etc..) The miles are very high but maybe they are highway miles if in fact that is good. You are just taking a big risk you dont want this car to go out on you and you get left with nothing I say you look for something with lower miles at least at the 100
 
Ford's have improved, but I wouldn't buy a Mustang from that era with that many miles. See how the suspension and steering feel to get an idea of how hard those miles were. I have a Honda with 235k, and the powertrain is flawless, but the steering and suspension are toast, too much city driving on crappy pavement.
