My roofer completed work on my project and I received a bill within 2 days. I have been told by numerous people not to pay them until the city building inspection is complete and it passes. Is this accurate? I know right now our building inspector is running about 2 months behind and I don't want this roofer putting a lien on my property. I had them put another roof on for me 2 years ago (the 2nd roof is due to hail damage) and they didn't send the bill until the building inspection had been completed and it passed. When I asked them why the change, they ignored my question and said it really didn't matter.
My city requires an inspection of building projects, roofing, any plumbing work, etc.
