Okay, so here's the deal. I've been toying with the idea of majoring in Recreation. My plan is to be a sort of Recreation Organizer or leader of some sort. I want to plan and run events in summer camps, be a camp counselor, work in recreation programs with kids (perhaps through the YMCA or other gyms), etc. However, looking at the classes in various Recreation major programs, a lot of the required education involves playing Volleyball, Badmitton, athletic swimming, etc. and learning how to teach them. I wouldn't mind learning - I mean, I mostly want to teach kids, so it's not like I'm teaching pros or anything - thing is, I have no training in sports. I haven't been on a team since elementary school. I like the outdoors, I enjoy hiking and camp stuff, I know how to kayak, canoe, shoot with a bow, ride horses, etc. I can rough it. But.. I guess I'm a little afraid of getting paired off with students and teachers who have been on sports teams all their lives when I know next to nothing on the subject.
So what should I do? Is there some other kind of program I should try aside from Recreation?
