Should I keep my gold fish in its self sustaining ecosystem or switch it into a tank?

I take this course on animals and today we made ecosystems in 2 liter soda bottles. It has gravel, a small snail, a plant, and a fish. The cap is on because the plant is supposed to provide it oxygen. Im not supposed to open it because the snail is supposed to clean it and i guess the fish is supposed to eat micro organisms or something. But we don't have to bring it back so i was wondering if it would be safer for the fish to switch it into a tank? And how do i get the fish out if i decide to do this considering the whole is really small.
oh just so everyone knows, it is not cruel because people who have been working with animals for many years and have done this before gave it to us. And its a SMALL goldfish that is not getting much bigger.
 
Gold fish grow really big, you really should have at least a 55 gal tank for when hes bigger. Move him into a tank, no fish should be in such a small space. Also, for oxygenation, you need water surface disturbance, so get him a good filter to filter the water and aid in oxygenation. Gold fish are super messy, and if you don't get him a good filter in a large enough tank, he can die from ammonia poisoning.
What you have is not a self sustaining ecosystem... you need to help the fish.

So definitely get him a tank.
 
wow, that seems kinda cruel to me. Yes, definitely move these to a tank. Cut a hole at the top of the bottle to get your specimens out. Please go with as big of a tank that is possible--preferably over 15 gallons.
