Should I keep my 2004 Mazda 6 s or give it to my parents and buy a Mazda RX-8?

My parents bought me a 2004 Mazda 6 S (the 3.0 liter v6 model) last year for $9,400. At the time it only had 4,500 miles on it, now it has about 17,000 miles. I love the car because it has excellent steering, a smooth automatic (although I wish it was a manual), a lovely exhaust note and plenty of power. It's reasonably practical, and looks good as well.

I'm contemplating getting rid of it because I am a huge car enthusiast, and it saddens me that my car doesn't have a manual gearbox or rear wheel drive. The car is also pretty uncomfortable and noisy on the highway (although the RX-8 might be even noisier, but I hear its suspension setup is very comfortable).

My parents might have to buy a new car next year anyway, should I give them the 6 that they bought for me a year ago and buy an RX-8 for myself for about $7k-$9k with about 50,000-100,000 miles? Or should I keep the 6 with 17,000 miles?

My parents would rather I keep the car, but told me that if I could buy another car if I had the money (which I do).

Keep in mind that I'm 17 years old, and keep in mind that I'm a huge car enthusiast.

Thanks so much for all your help!
