Hello

Guest
i'm 14 almost 15, 5'11" and 155 lbs. I have a 29-30 inch running vertical and am currently making it better. I am a starter on the sophomore team but that's really not saying much.

i was hoping to get far in basketball, but i now realise the chances of me actually getting there. I just cannot score in-game! i mean i can shoot pretty alright when shooting around or even a playful scrimmage. but when it's the real thing, i just don't take enough shots and not a lot of them go in...

i'm hoping to be the star player on my team this year. and if i'm not, i'll just give up. i don't want to pay the $1000 a year to get no where. i want to be scoring 16+ points a game. So how can i achieve this? and please don't say "practice". i know that, but what? So please and encouraging words or advice would be appreciated...

hey

well first thing first it seems like you putting yourself down so try to work on self confidence before anything else.

ok first thing you need to do is really talk to your coach and let them know how committed you are to playing basketball.

you really check within yourself to make sure you love the game but to it seems like you don't because if you did you would not be saying that you would stop if your not scoring.

have you ever thought that your more of a defensive player.

you have to be determined to make it in basketball because unlike football only a little get in scholarships.

you need to focus and e determined to be the best because right now you are really not there because if you were you would not be online looking for encouragement from strangers

not trying to hurt your feelings but just trying to keep it real.

well i think you just need to really sit down and really just block out everything and to apsychologicall check to make sure basketball is what you want and dont give up if you really want to start thrn you will

good luck and keep your head up.

you have a good chance of being over 6 ft which will help in basketball. Don't give up and get faster, play games, and practice.

Maybe you're just not meant to be a basketball star. I am sorry but some people will never get better no matter how much they practice. It could be a lot of factors that contributed to this. You should try your best and if it doesn't work out then maybe you could go and talk to some good basketball players for advice. Maybe that will help.

Good Luck!

Become a better ball handler. Eat, sleep and drink with a ball in your hands, lol. I knew a kid growing up that dribbled a basketball everywhere he went, usually between the legs with each step. He went from not playing at all to being a star his sophomore year.

Handling the ball better will give you more confidence and lead to more open shots.
