Should I join the military?

I'm going into my senior year of high school and i've been seriously considering joining the army. i guess that's something of an understatement seeing as how im pretty far along in the process.

My recruiter thought that 35W Electronic Warfare Signal Intelligence would be most favorable for me considering i want to do something related to languages and...yeah.

I received a 96 on my ASVAB and plan on taking my DLAB on tuesday.

Alot of people are telling me to just go to college first but...i'm somewhat of an underachiever and part of my reasoning for joining the army is that i want to...get whipped into shape in a way.
I guess what im looking for is unbiased opinions and advice (from complete strangers lol) about the possibilities and benefits, and even the downsides of joining the army right out of high school...and whatever else might help?

Many people are not ready for college immediately out of high school. 35W in the Army, is a great job, will offer college credits in and of itself as will any foreign language you may learn. Additionally, you can go to college part time, while in and then use your GI Bill and Army College Fund to continue past your BA/BS.

Good luck in the Army.

you don't need college don't let anyone tell you you need it.. after army be a personal trainer that'd be good people will know you know what you're talking about... you'l always be able to make good money

mine please?

You really need to make that choice on your own i did almost 6 years signed up for 4 and i just got out wanna go to school. Its youre life man youre decisions. me personally i wish id gone to school for about a year i went in at 17.

Personally id go Marines just cuz they're better just saying cuz i leave for boot camp in Sept lol but do the Army Reserves you just work like one weekend a month and 2 weeks over summer and they will pay for your college. But be aware Reservist in all branches get sent out more than full active duty Marines, Soldiers, sailors and Airmen
