I have wanted to join the Army since I was 12, I have my entire career planned out and have been working on it with my dad for almost four years now (if you want to read it just look at my last question). There's absolutely no question I'm joining however I do realize there is a chance I could die before I'm even old enough to legally have a beer.
Now I'm not really that interested in "persevering for academic excellence" as my principal likes to repeat so often, but I'm thinking that maybe I should have some fun a couple extra years before I decide to risk my ass, plus I'll increase my chances in the ASVAB since I want to be a Ranger and then go Special Forces.
So my question is, should finish high school and go ahead as planned in the Army and pray I live passed 30, or go to college first and have the classic college experience before I risk it all?
No offense to those who have answered so far but I don't think you get it. Most of you talked about how the Army will pay for my college, well they'll pay if I go to college before or after so that's obsolete. Next up, some of you talked about having more time to think about it, I've thought about it for four years and it's only strengthened my opinion of joining.
How about someone who knows what they're talking about and not just spraying the sht I hear from my school counselor hmm?
Ok last thing, I do not, repeat do not want to be an officer. There's to much politics involved in an officers life to make rank and they don't do as much in combat unless they're an officer in Special Forces, Rangers, or Delta Force
