Should I install CB Setup myself or dealer?

Im buying the CB setup myself and was wondering if I should pay the dealer or just do it my self?

I have the cb hed unit...self explanitory to install..just piggybacks on the radio...
but harness 77108-09 will mount a jack for driver in between legs just above the seat..and the passenger by the left saddlebag..(im not installing rear speakers)...and I also install accesory harness and cb antenna...

Im just wondering about how much its worth to do it myself...since I think I take the tank off..for the harness hookups...never done that...I used to have a lot more space in my garage also since I just picked up a project 55 Fairlane..

anyone done this?
 
yeah...Im buying the cb antenna and the 77108-09 harness this weekend for my B-day...that way I get 18% off these items a my local dealer
 
I installed a CB on my wife's 09 Street Glide last year. No need to remove the tank, I removed the hold down bolt by the seat and loosened the front ones. By doing this I was able to raise the tank from the rear and fish a string trimmer line down the frame to use as a pull line for the harness.

Overall the entire install took about 4 - 5 hours, could have been faster but since this was my first CB install I took my time.

I opted to replace the tank console with one that has the microphone jack on it instead of the add on jack that mounts on the side of the console. It was an extra $105 but looks like it came from the factory.

The HD instructions were very clear and easy to follow.
 
I installed the BAMI kit, 77108-09, with CB module on my '04 a while back and wrote-up the install with pics:

Because my bike is an '04, much more involved than on an '07 or newer bike which should be plug n' play, especially on '08 and newer because of the lack of the fuel crossover on older models.

Service Manual is very helpful; exercise care when reinstalling the left hand switch housing (easy to pinch/short a wire there); be familiar with removal and reinstallation of ignition; and, should be an easy, but slightly tedious project due to the number of harnesses being routed, parts attached, etc.

Mine works as advertised.

I did this too, but I now want to add the speakers too. I will remove the tank this time to run the wiring inside the housing.

One thing is when you turn it on, check the Intercom button to see if it is already activated. I found that my intercom was already on.
I save the money that the dealer would have charged. I wonder if they would have charged me to turn it on and done nothing?
 
I just did this install a couple of weels ago. Everything you need to know is right here on the forum. Take your time, take the tank off and do it right. 3 bolts and the fuel line is all it takes and with the new fittings on fuel line you will not lose but maybe a drop of fuel. I used J & M hidden ant for the cb and it works great. I also thought I was going to have to go to the dealer to get the flash for the intercom to work, but after the intall I was messing around with it and it works great, no trip to stealer.
