should i install a aftermarket muffler on my Honda Civic?

My check engine light went off last night, im going to go get it checked by a mechanic on monday. It's probably nothing big.
Now im paranoid about installing a Pilot muffler on my Civic.
Do you guys think its a good idea ?? would you recommend it ?
