I've been scouring the internet for a proper straight foward answer to my question. There is much speculation about wether or not surround sound headsets can simultae suround sound better than stereo headsets Using DTS or something like that. Well I have no experience with either, but surely to have 5 speakers (or 7) in each ear outputting sound, it can simulate the suround sound affect better than 1 speaker in each ear. I understand that 2 speakers is not the limit because you have 2 ears, because your brain processes the frequency and the time lapse between sound (or something) to try to tell you where a sound is coming from. I would use whatever headset is best heavily for gaming so a good virtual surround sound is key, but then as is the sound quality which stereo are best at... Agh! ANY help VERY MUCH appreciated because i have no idea! :'(

the second one is different by the way, but man this is really bugging me, because a lot of people are saying go stereo its better sound quality and can do suround better than a hedaset with 7 speakers. But, i just can't see it.
Wow quick response, so your saying surround sound for quality as well as surround sound affect, i know it sounds silly but a lot of people have been saying that stereo can simulate surround sound better than a surround sound headset, for instance one person had a Baracuda headset and then went to a Sennhesier HD595 and said it beat it far by quality and even by 3d positioning. Pretty much everyone has mentioned stero headphones have much better sound quality, but im more worried about 3D positioning for gaming purposes, im waiting for the Razer Megalodon to see what thats like.
But really what im asking for is an opinion, of whether or not a top end surround sound headset is better for gaming than a pair of top end stereo headphones backed up by a dcent sound card.
