I'm a MA student in area studies and 27 female.I plan to complete it by me reaching the age of 28. If I go for PhD in other school, I have to stay in school for next 5 years and so, and by the time I get out, I will be in the early 30's, and that will be when I look for a real full-time job. I'm concerned about spending another several years as a student descent income and being single at that age. I feel this way maybe because I was dumped not a long time ago. In fact, being student at this age without decent money is very stressful and it is hard just to imagine I continue this for another years. When I was young I was more confident with my choice without social judgment and believed in doing what I want, but now I think of age and a job market and am scared of going further in this field. It is hard sometimes people ask me until when I will be in school without being married and a job.
I know this is a stupid question esp. for those seriously pursuing PhD now, but considering my situation, do you think it will be good idea to get out school after MA and go for PhD if I want to? or any advice on my situation? Please be considerate if you answer and no thanks for one single line answer just to get points. Thanks for your time.
