I got fired from my job and I was trying to go to school while working, but it has been a struggle staying afloat. Im 26 and was in the army for 4 years and spent a lot of time over seas. I don't think I want to go back to my parents home and I can't live off my friends.

go back, it shouldn't take you to long to get back in. I'm in the same boat but I needed my medical records witch are taking forever. After I get them I can leave as soon as I want. Everything should only take you a few weeks at most to get back to meps if that is what you decide.

I know it can be tough here in the civilian world. I did the active duty and transfer to the civilian life and you always have that pull back to the military. It is a lifestyle you can't get anywhere else. You have several options.

1) Go back to full time active duty. This option has been pulling you I am sure of it.
2) Join the Army Reserves and keep trying to find a civilian job. This will allow you to keep some of that which you miss in the military (but keep in mind, the Reserves is DRASTICALLY different than AD, don't expect it to be like a family, it is more like friends)
3) Join the Army Reserves and try to find a full-time position in the reserves (aka AGR: Active Guard Reserve). These positions are hard to get, but well worth it since you are in the reserves, but you work full time and accrue full time retirement. If you retire as an AGR with 20 years then it is like retiring from AD.
4) Join the Army Reserves and volunteer for a tour. This will allow you to start working and get some pay, but not require you to commit to 4 years of full-time service.

In regards to option #4. Some units are very hard up for Soldiers for year long CONUS deployments. The entire Army is hurting for Drill Sergeants and there are reserve Drill Sergeant units that will let you volunteer for time on the trail.
