Should I go Army or Marines?

My friend and I were going into the Marines. It was a done deal, his older brother (our friend too) is just 1 year older and is currently out in LA with the Marines.

Its going to take my friend and I another year just to get to bootcamp which I think is fucking stupid. But I was going to wait. Anyway we get a call from his brother just yesterday and he's like "You guys DO NOT join the Marines. DON'T do it. You will regret it while you're in it, DON'T DO IT. Just join the Army instead."

Considering the Army has enlistment bonuses, nicer equipment, faster promotion, etc I was really interested in joining. But I don't want to be a Soldier and regret not being a "Marine" not just for the title but for everything else it comes with.

After doing research, the Marines really seem to have junky old equipment like trucks and tanks. I'm really into technology and pushing forward with innovation which I think the Army is more about.

Last - I do not have any interest in the Navy. Actually that sounds like the worst idea in the world to me, and I really don't want to be on a Navy ship for months on end. And I read that Marines can sometimes be on the ships for long periods of time considering they are a branch of the Navy.

Thoughts, anything that helps with making my decision i really appreciate.

I'm starting to rethink Army considering all the above and the $15,000+ enlistment bonus.
