I’m a 25 year old guy. 9 months ago, I decided to go for Salsa dancing lessons to help instill some confidence in me and help me meet women. Well, in these 9 months, Salsa dancing seems to have done more harm than good.
First of all, I’m in a constant struggle to get good since women would prefer to dance with men who are good dancers. So, this is an added stress.
Second, it’s time consuming and is expensive. Going for lessons takes up a lot of time and costs a lot of money since I need to attend a lot of classes to get good at a faster rate.
Third, it’s EXTREMELY hard. Learning to lead a Salsa dance is not something that can be taught. But rather, it’s a skill that slowly and gradually develops overtime with more experience. And since women want to look awesome NOW, we’re not given that chance to “gradually” learn. It’s an added pressure.
Fourth, learning to dance with some women is not easy, especially the few that like to show an attitude when a dance doesn’t come out perfect. It’s like….some women want to just look awesome, and when they don’t, they get angry and blame you for all the things that went wrong in the dance.
On the plus side, partner dancing does help me get used to be around women and helps me get comfortable around the opposite sex. It’s working wonders on my everyday life. And since I’m shy, it’s working wonders for my confidence.
So, even though Salsa dancing is doing some good in my life, those 4 things above are also adding a lot of stress as well. Is this hobby worth pursuing?
Meaghan- It's fun, but it has also doubled the amount of stress in my life due to those 4 things I mentioned in my question. This is why the decision of whether or not I should give up is a difficult one.
