Should I get paid for training for a job that I left only 1 week later?

Hi, I recently got a job at a small law firm. The employer told me that the training would be a month and the rate was $12/hour. However, I felt that the job wasn't for me and quit after the first week. Now when I asked my employer for pay, her exact words were "contact us if you think you deserve pay for the last week's training with no actual work." Should I contact my employer for the pay? Thanks so much.
