I have a 1996 mazda mpv and I would like to know is it worth getting fix? It is having transmission problems. took the car to aamco and they said the second gear was gone and the third gear is slipping i have know problem paying to get it fix it is just that I do not want to pay close to $3000.00 and it breaks down again in less than a year I have been trying to research transmissions for the mazda mpv 1996. but I still do not know should I keep it or not. I guess my question is to any owners how has it been treating you would you get yours fix? what has the history been for you?
I have not had the van long... maybe 6 months... it has 100,000 miles on it everything else is in good condition except for the transmission. Just had it service.

Assuming that the transmission is going to be fixed, then that should be the least of your worries. The question is then, how is the rest of the van? Have you had it long and has it been good to you.? How many miles are on it now and what condition is it in ? Can you imagine yourself driving it happily for a year or more after this.? You are sadly right, the van with the new transmission will not be worth as much as the $3000 cash at trade in time.
