Should I get a used Honda Element or a Subaru Outback?

I have a budget of about $11k to buy a used car. I can't make up my mind on which one though. I like the Honda's for all that space, but I don't know which is better, the Element or Outback?

Do Honda Elements break down often? What about Subaru's? Are they easy/cheap to fix?
