I want to buy a car from a private seller. Everything checks out for me and it drives great but I want to get a mechanic to look over it before I buy it.
Should I first agree a price based on the condition the seller says it's in, then take it to a mechanic and re-negotiate if any problems are found?
Or take it to a mechanic and use that information to negotiate the price?
