should I get a type G wireless card? Or type N usb adapter?

I want my desktop to be able to use wireless internet, primarily for gaming.
It'll be in my room, and my laptop usually gets 3 bars of strength from the wireless router.

1) which would be better for my desktop? The internal PCI type G card?
Or the type N USB adapter?
Let me see if I can elaborate a bit more...
1)wouldn't an internal PCI anything be faster than its usb counterpart? But in this case, the antenna is type N (type N = better right?) So...which should I get?
I was told over the phone that the usb adapter doesn't actually have an antennae, but it still gets me online wirelessly.

2) Will having 3 bars of signal strength adversely affect my gaming network performance? As in, will it cause me to lag?

3) Will either the wireless card or usb adapter be more powerful/receive a better signal than my laptop?

4) I know type N networks can transmit more data, but do they also have more range? Or will I need a signal booster antennas for my router?
