though I am? I'm 18 years old and live in NYC and have a clean record no tickets or anything. I'm also in college. A few weeks ago I was arrested with my friend for shoplifting in NYC. I was finger printed and all and given a desk appearance ticket. I regret what I did and cannot believe I did it. I do not no what to do. I don't wish to tell my parents. I do not have much money but if I must I will hire a lawyer. But should I just get a public defender? Will I be better off pleading not guilty? I really wish to walk away from this without it staying on my record. What will happen to me? Any advice?
