We bought a 2005 Mazda3 used, and noticed that the trans fluid looks like it's never been changed. The car has about 80k miles on it.
The Mazda dealer recommended and quoted me $179 to do a complete chemical flush of the transmission, but there are two issues... This seems uber expensive compared to what I've been reading online, and second is that I've heard this is a bad thing to do because it can push the gunk up into the transmission and make things worse.
Should I just tell them to drop the pan and do a fluid/filter replacement, or go for the whole shebang? I don't have a lift of any kind, and I'm not really familiar with Mazdas or I'd try doing it myself :\
