Should I get a 600cc streetbike and what bike?

Hey, I am looking into purchasing a newer 600cc streetbike. I am new to the sport and very safe. I ride my dad's 1000cc buell around all the time. Will I be able to handle it? What brand? Looking in to a suzuki GSXR. Thanks.
