Should I forgive my father and build a relationship with him?

I have not really spoken to my father in years. He communicates with me through my older sister. When I was eight I moved to be with my mom. He has not been a part of my life for quite sometime. He did not come to my graduation nor did he come to my wedding because my mother walked me down the isle instead of him. My parents have been divorced since I was 6. When I was little he tried to brain wash and blamed my mother for the divorce, when he was the one who cheated and had another baby with another woman ( who is now my stepmother )before my mom knew about it.
