Should I fix my 2003 Ford Focus LX or buy/lease a car?

I am a college student working 24 hours a week and drive about 13,00 + miles a year, so I drive a lot. My car has 85,702 miles on it and I owe $4698.02 - $5405 still. Recently the engine stopped working. One of the pistons came up to high and smashed the spark plug. I went to a mechanic and they said it would cost me $1500 to fix it with a 3 month warranty. I have had some problems with it in the past. I worry that if I spend the $1500 that it will be a waste and will end up breaking again. Help me please.

If you do not get it fixed, it has no value. However you still owe for it.

And this problem is usually caused by a broken timing belt which means you likely skipped the required maintenance required at 60,000 miles, 75,000 miles maximum where the timing belt is replaced. Where the valves that are open fail to return to position and the piston hits them.

These are generally a good car.I have a 2004 Focus myself and once you get it fixed it should last to the 150,000 mile mark.

However, no car is trouble free and you have to figure on $1,000 a year on repairs on any car on average.

ahh drats, that really sucks.
But here is what i would do:
Fix the car, sell the car
if it doesnt sell, trade it in and get a new one. make sure you fix it, tho, nobody will buy a broken car.
