I was fired from a summer camp in WA this summer, I worked there just for one session, the reason they gave is because I allowed one of my campers to use my cell-phone, I allowed him to use it because he was feeling really home-sick and threatened his tent-mates with a knife, after allowing him to call home and ask for some stuff to his parents his behavior changed, so the call was worth it. The thing here is that I found out that the head of boys’ side hid from the director that a counselor head back to camp really drunk, so I knew it and talked to the director, basically the head of boys’ side put pressure on the director to fire me instead of firing the counselor who got back drunk, since I’m Mexican and was at camp as international staff, I totally felt racially discriminated from camp.
I’m pretty sure the camp knew they were doing wrong and to minimize their guilt, they even paid me the whole salary for the summer, booked a charter get me out of camp among some other stuff.
It’s been one month and so since that incident, so I still wonder should I go up WA and fill a lawsuit against camp ¿?
