Should I Even Have Been Allowed To Be A Business Educator?
I have taught Business - at the high school and college/university levels - for almost 40 years and am about ready to retire. I have also written a couple of books and some articles on business.

I have an undergraduate degree in Finance / Management, an master's in Business Education, and an MBA.

I have enjoyed my career very much.

However, I have NEVER worked professionally in business in my entire life, and I am almost 65. I have spent my entire life in schools and educational institutions. In fact, the only non-teaching jobs that I have had were back when I was in college and they were SUMMER JOBS - one of which I was fired from for incompetence.

I have also been ACTIVELY involved in Business Education organizations and conferences, and I was recently awarded the "LIfetime Achievement Award" IN Business Education.

For me, my professional life was truly a matter of "those who can, do; those who can't, teach..."

Absolutely. Why shouldn't you have not been allowed to teach business?

You studied the area and received a degree, and it looks like you've spent most of your life writing and learning about it as it's changed.

People do not usually receive recognition and awards for not being particularly outstanding in an aspect of their life.

I disagree with the "those who can, do;those who can't teach". You seemed to have excelled in business education and I think it's great that you were able to pass it on. Teachers are NOT given enough credit for the work they do.

Don't be so hard on yourself!
