Should I consider buying a 2009 Dodge Challenger?

This car simply appeals to me on a very high level. I know the SRT8 has got around 425 horse power and some nice features, but it is expensive and the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 has (shocker) 500 horsepower. So should i consider buying a car that will potentially get run off the road by a mustang... and which model will best suit my adrenaline-junky needs, the R/T or SRT8?
 
Theres ALWAYS somebody who will be faster no matter what you drive. Get the Challenger and enjoy.
 
the mustangs gonna be faster regardless, its a fact. Just because its not a mustang doesn't mean it wont get the adrenaline going. personally i see too many mustangs around and if i saw a challenger next to me at a light, id take a pic with my phone, they're sick, and not many have em in comparison to a mustang
 
Why would it matter if a Shelby outgunned you on the road? There will always be someone quicker than you on the road. But to quench your adrenaline need, get the SRT-8. It has +50 more hp and +16 more lbs of tq.
 
depends on how much money you got. i'd get the srt8 challenger, then again i'm a mopar guy. mustangs suck though, they are welfare cars. every girl has a v6.
 
I would. Its built very well.

Most of the Shelby is just hype. Including the price.

If you had the time, and a good shop, you could build a better car if you started with the R/T and modded it up.

Guaranteed, with about 8 to 10k in parts, you'd be approaching viper territory. Heck, if you are going to race them, why not look at a viper?
