I went to take my oldest son to See Monsters Vs. Aliens at the IMAX theater on Saturday morning. When we arrived we were told that their credit card machine was not working and that we could only pay with cash. They told us (meaning everyone in the lobby) that if we wanted to leave to go the ATM they would delay the movie by 15 minutes. We left, went to the ATM and came back only to find that the credit card machine was working. When I asked if they were still going to delay the movie they stated they did not know. Then I went to the concession stand and when we walked int oe movie it had started on time. We only missed about two minutes of the movie but I am pissed that they lied and stated they would delay it and then didn't. Should I let it go or call and complain?

Let it go it was probably a miss understanding. The machine probably just started working and the people who were there at the time didn't want them to delay the movie. People can be really impatient they put pressure on the people that work there and then all of the sudden the movie is playing on time again. I do think it was irresponsible and rude but at the same time it isn't doing you any good to worry about it.

You could always call the theatre manager and explain what happened however I'm not sure they will do much for you since you only missed 2 minutes of the movie. Perhaps they may give you complimentary snack bar vouchers or something but they may just apologize for the misunderstanding.

Well I am extremely doubtful they lied just to cause half the paying audience to miss the beginning of the movie. I can definitely understand the frustration there, but I can guarantee you that the person who said the credit card machine wasn't working was telling the truth to the best of his/her knowledge.

If you feel that they should compensate you for that inconvenience, no matter whose fault it was, then you could call the theater and explain what happened in the tone of "thought you should know so that this doesn't happen again". They may offer to give you a complimentary ticket, and if you explain that your son was really upset, they probably will.
