I recently "treated" myself to a proper house clean by hiring professionals. My apartment is 600 sq ft, and I have two cats. Here is what I paid for:
-general cleaning of apartment
-floors
-windows
-inside and outside of fridge / oven
-clean kitchen walls
I found many things wrong with the job they did, such as:
-tiles in bathroom still had soap scum marks
-kitchen floors not cleaned properly
-floors not swept or cleaned properly
-everything was dusted "around", not underneath items
-bathroom mirror was still dirty
Now I admit that the apartment was not the cleanest to begin with, but that is why I hired the professionals. I was up front about this when I called. I also ensured that there was no clutter anywhere, so they wouldn't have to move too many items to dust. Well, on one shelf, there was only one small radio and two small speakers. Well they didn't even dust underneath that.
I could go on and on about the basic things that weren't done, but I don't want to bore you with the details. What I would like to know is if this is acceptable in the cleaning world, or should I complain? By the way, I paid $150 for the service, and left a $20 tip (BEFORE they cleaned). I really just wanted my apartment cleaned properly, which I didn't get.I would have gladly paid more if it was too dirty to begin with, but the fact remains that my apartment is still not cleaned properly.
Any suggestions or opinions? I would also like to hear from other housekeepers as to what they would do in a similar situation.
