I've been thinking alot about Moola lately and realized that they actually have complete control over the maximum payout. You can only conceivably win as much as they have allowed to enter the system (via new players and the gratuitous 1 cent they give you after you blow it all). Combining this with the fact that all of the money in the system is split among thousands of players means that it's pretty much impossible to gain any substational amount of wealth from the game: You would have to not only play multiple players (and win each time), but also have multiple people playing parallel to you at all times (so that you always have someone to play against at each higher stage). Plus, I think the game itself (gold mining) is designed so that no one can win indefinitely. Maybe I'll run some game theory analysis on it this summer, but I'm starting to think that there really isn't all that much strategy involved.
But yeah, it's definitely a fun distraction, and I think the people who made it are genious. I'm at $6.50 and will definitely be cashing in when I break that ten dollar mark.
