The consensus seems to be that the ZS7 lens takes better quality photos and offers geo-tagging, but the S8100 has a better sensor (CMOS), better LCD resolution, full HD video, and better speed performance.
Responses that actually compare the two will be more helpful. BTW I didn't like the design of the comparable Canon SX210 and don't care for Sony, so please don't recommend either.
